Project Management for Business Central – Departments
The standard jobs functionality in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central helps you to manage projects and contracts for your organization. This functionality enables users to define project structures, plan and manage tasks in projects and manage project budgets vs. actuals. This functionality works well for many companies but is not always sufficient for project-centric businesses to run their business well.
The Prodware Project Management for Business Central is made up of different apps that take the standard jobs functionality a few steps further and increases the efficiency & flexibility of managing projects and providing better insights. This results in time savings and error reduction and enhances the ability to complete projects on schedule and within budget.
The Departments app adds the responsibility center to the jobs. This is similar functionality to the responsibility center in Business Central used in the Sales-, Purchase- and Service module.
The project manager, as a Business Central user, can be associated with one department. Just as the customer can also be associated with one department. When a job is created, the department will be automatically added to the job, based on the department of the customer and/or the user setup. The user will have access only to the jobs with the same department as him/herself.
The Departments App is fully integrated with the Project Template App which therefore will also be part of the installment. Upon subscription to the Project Template App responsibility center checks will also be conducted while applying templates.
The responsibility center is one of the filters that can be used in the app Combined Invoice in Project Management if both extensions are installed. The Combined Invoice app is not part of the installment.
